Baked Shakespeare is a cult-classic theatre troupe that started in the back of a bakery in Cape Town in 2021, and we have been revolutionising the South African theatre scene ever since. It's professionally rehearsed and performed Shakespeare, with a cannabis twist.
We are serving a chaotic reimagining of the Bard's work, packing out venues across Cape Town and beyond. This is Shakespeare the way he would have wanted - honouring the total debaucherous vibe of The Pit at the Globe in 1590!
Built by a community of actors, artists, theatre-makers, and Shakespeare nerds, we've taken the South African entertainment world by storm, and we're only JUST BEGINNING!

Baked Shakespeare memberships are purchased in advance for our 2027 season and provide the benefits outlined on this website.
If Baked Shakespeare is unable to proceed with the 2027 season and is therefore unable to deliver the advertised membership benefits, members will be entitled to a full refund of the membership fee paid.
This commitment forms part of our Refund Policy and is designed to ensure that customers can purchase with confidence.
If an event is postponed rather than cancelled, members will be offered the opportunity to transfer their membership benefits to the rescheduled season or request a refund in accordance with our Refund Policy.

By utilising recontextualisation as a strategy, the production becomes a tool for remixing themes, symbols, words and practices as a means to legitimise marginalised expression within the heart of Cape Town.
